Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, one of the heirs to the Luxottica fortune founded by his father Leonardo Del Vecchio, has recently come under renewed public scrutiny following two high-profile developments: an investigation linked to a Ferrari road accident and renewed attention on his past relationship with actress Madalina Ghenea, who was later the victim of stalking.
The Ferrari Crash Investigation
On November 16, 2025, Del Vecchio’s Ferrari Purosangue was involved in a crash on Milan’s eastern ring road after allegedly weaving through traffic and colliding with a BMW 530, triggering a chain-reaction impact against the guardrail.
According to reports, when traffic police arrived at the scene, a former member of Del Vecchio’s security staff, identified as Daniele O., was in the driver’s seat and stated that he had been driving. Del Vecchio, according to that version of events, had already left the scene in another vehicle.
That account was later reportedly challenged by surveillance footage and witness statements, including testimony from emergency responders. As a result, both Del Vecchio and the former employee were served notice of investigation on allegations related to identity substitution in complicity and failure to provide assistance. Del Vecchio was also reported to have lost 10 points from his driving licence, while the vehicle itself was not seized.
Also present in the car was Marco Talarico, CEO of LMDV Capital, who is not under investigation.
His Past Relationship With Madalina Ghenea
Del Vecchio was previously in a relationship with actress and model Madalina Diana Ghenea, around 2020. Although the relationship later ended, the two were still photographed together in St. Moritz in 2024, suggesting they remained on good terms.
In November 2025, Del Vecchio appeared in court in Milan as a witness in a stalking trial involving a 45-year-old woman accused of harassing Ghenea through online threats, insults, and repeated attacks that allegedly left the actress deeply distressed and unable to work.
During his testimony, Del Vecchio said Ghenea had been living in fear and was under constant pressure, adding that threats had also been directed at him. Ghenea reportedly described the episode as a nightmare, saying it was a period in which she "could no longer live."
A Figure Back in the Spotlight
Taken together, the two cases have pushed Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio back into the headlines, placing one of Italy’s most closely watched heirs at the center of both a legal investigation and a highly publicized courtroom case.
